Description
The Cork Borer Set, Laboratory Hole Punch Tools for Stoppers, also known as laboratory cork borer sets, are designed for cutting clean holes in corks, rubber stoppers and compatible soft materials during laboratory preparation work. These cork borers are made from nickel plated brass as listed and are supplied with a rod, supporting routine science technician, chemistry, biology and general laboratory preparation tasks. The borers are used to create holes for inserting compatible glass tubing through corks or rubber stoppers, helping prepare simple laboratory apparatus for demonstrations and experiments.
They may also be used for taking samples in approved experiments and for punching holes in agar plates, where the laboratory method and hygiene procedure are suitable. The set of 12 provides a wider bore-size range from 3.5 mm to 18.25 mm, while the set of 6 provides commonly used smaller bore sizes from 3.4 mm to 8.45 mm. The set of 6 has an overall length listed as 100 mm. Users should confirm cork borer size, stopper material, glass tubing diameter, cutting method, cleaning procedure and sterilisation suitability before ordering or use.
Use care when inserting glass tubing through bored stoppers. Glass tubing can break and cause cuts if forced, twisted incorrectly or used with a poorly matched hole size. Cork borers have sharp circular cutting edges. Keep fingers clear of the cutting end, do not apply excessive force and use approved hand protection or holding methods where required. When used with agar plates or biological materials, follow approved aseptic technique, cleaning, decontamination and disposal procedures.
This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the selected nickel plated brass cork borer set with rod only. Corks, rubber stoppers, glass tubing, lubricant, sterilising equipment, agar plates, PPE and additional laboratory tools are not included unless specified separately.
LabChoice Australia supplies Cork Borer Sets and laboratory preparation tools for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and educational facilities requiring practical accessories for stopper preparation, tubing insertion and biology practical work.
