Description
The Hand Held Cylinder Microtome with Razor and Glass Plates, also known as a hand microtome or manual cylinder microtome, is designed for cutting thin sections of microscopic materials for observation. This hand microtome can be used with suitable specimen parts from plants and animals, supporting biology, microscopy and specimen preparation activities in educational laboratories. It is considered a basic form of microtome, allowing microtomic cuts to be made by hand in a quick and controlled way when used with the approved technique.
The kit is supplied complete with a razor, 2 glass plates and the microtome, packed in a polystyrene box for storage. This product is useful for school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories and biology classrooms preparing thin sections for microscope slide work. Users should confirm the specimen type, embedding or support method, section thickness requirement, razor handling procedure and microscope preparation method before use. The supplied razor is sharp and must be handled carefully. Do not touch the cutting edge, cut towards the body or leave the razor exposed on the bench.
The glass plates should also be handled carefully to avoid breakage, sharp edges and contamination during specimen preparation. This product is intended for laboratory or educational settings only and should be used under appropriate supervision. This item is supplied as the hand held cylinder microtome kit with razor, 2 glass plates and polystyrene box only. Microscope slides, coverslips, stains, specimens, forceps, brushes, PPE and additional microscopy accessories are not included unless specified separately.
