Description

Short Path Distillation Heads  are made from BOROSILICATE 3.3 GLASS. Designed for use with small quantities where hold up between the flask and receiver must be kept to a minimum. The thermometer bulb and stem serve as column packing. Upper hose connections are for cooling lines while the lower connection is for vacuum

Short path distillation heads are precision engineered components used for rapid vapour transfer in low pressure and high efficiency separations. The compact vapour pathway reduces residence time and minimises thermal degradation, which is essential for heat sensitive organic compounds, natural extracts and refined laboratory materials. LabChoice Australia supplies these heads in BORO 3.3 glass that meets ISO 3585 and ASTM E438 Type 1 Class A, giving researchers reliable thermal stability, chemical resistance and optical clarity during demanding distillation sequences.

The internal geometry supports smooth vapour rise and controlled condensation through the integrated condenser arm, allowing accurate fraction isolation even under deep vacuum conditions. The short travel distance from boiling flask to receiver improves purity outcomes and reduces material losses, making the system suitable for terpene refinement, essential oil purification, advanced solvent recycling and analytical pre concentration tasks. The high quality joints found in LabChoice heads ensure strong compatibility with round bottom flasks, cold traps, receivers and vacuum manifolds used across chemistry, pharmaceutical and environmental testing labs.

BORO 3.3 construction allows reliable performance through repeated heating and cooling cycles, supporting controlled operation on heating mantles, sand baths or temperature programmed systems. The clarity of the glass lets researchers monitor boiling behaviour, reflux formation, bumping, condensate flow and head temperature shifts in real time. Australian laboratories choose these heads when precise molecular separation, reduced contamination risk and reproducible processing are required for teaching programs, research and method development.
