Description
Separating Funnel is designed for clean, controlled liquid–liquid extraction and phase separation where chemical resistance, clear layer visibility, and dependable flow control are essential. It allows two immiscible liquids to be mixed, settled, and drained in a controlled manner, supporting routine washing steps, solvent extractions, sample clean-up, and reaction workups across teaching, research, and industrial QC laboratories.
Manufactured from high quality LabChoice BORO 3.3 borosilicate glass, the funnel offers excellent thermal stability, low thermal expansion, and strong resistance to a wide range of laboratory reagents and solvents. BORO 3.3 glass performance aligns with recognised borosilicate standards such as ISO 3585 and ASTM E438 Type I, supporting dependable durability under day to day laboratory handling. The transparent glass body supports clear observation of emulsion formation and phase boundaries, which improves decision making during separation and helps reduce product loss.
A separating funnel is typically fitted with a precision stopcock for controlled draining of the lower layer and a ground joint stopper to reduce solvent vapour loss during mixing. For best practice, vent frequently when shaking volatile solvents, secure the funnel with an appropriate clamp and ring stand, and confirm stopcock material compatibility with your chemicals, commonly PTFE or glass depending on the model.
Supplied by LabChoice Australia, this separating funnel is widely used across Australian universities, schools, research institutes, environmental laboratories, and industrial facilities where reliable phase separation and robust borosilicate construction support consistent outcomes.
*10000 ml and 20000 ml sizes are available in round shape only.
