Description

Kipps Gas Generator Apparatus, Borosilicate Glass (BORO 3.3) is designed for on-demand laboratory gas generation where controlled reaction contact, clear visibility, and chemical resistant construction are essential. The classic three-chamber design allows the solid reagent and acid to be separated until required, then brought into contact to produce gas, with generation rate controlled via the stopcock and liquid level. This supports repeatable small-scale gas preparation for teaching demonstrations and routine laboratory work, for example carbon dioxide generation from carbonates, or other compatible gas-forming reactions.

Manufactured from high quality LabChoice BORO 3.3 borosilicate glass, the apparatus offers excellent thermal stability, low thermal expansion, and strong resistance to a wide range of laboratory reagents. BORO 3.3 glass performance aligns with ISO 3585 and ASTM E438 Type I expectations for laboratory borosilicate glass, supporting durability for repeated setup, cleaning, and daily handling. Smooth internal surfaces help minimise residue retention and support efficient rinsing between uses, while the transparent glass body allows clear observation of reaction control and liquid movement during operation.

For safe operation, always run gas generation in accordance with your laboratory SOPs, use appropriate tubing and clamps, and operate inside a fume cupboard when generating hazardous or irritating gases. Do not allow pressure build-up, inspect glass for chips or cracks before use, and confirm chemical compatibility of all reagents and downstream traps or scrubbers.
