Description

The Digital Colony Counter, also known as a laboratory bacterial colony counter, is designed for counting bacterial colonies growing on agar contained in compatible Petri dishes. The Model 570 uses solid state circuitry and a pressure sensor system to provide uniform sensitivity over the working field, helping support consistent colony counting during microbiology laboratory work. The counter is suitable for use with different Petri dish sizes and includes a flexible adjuster that accepts 10 cm to 15 cm Petri dishes as listed.

The built-in electronic register is operated by marking colonies with a suitable pen. Each time a count is registered, the beeper gives an audible signal to verify the entry. The count can be registered up to a maximum of 4 digits, 9999, and is displayed on a bright red LED display for clear visibility during routine colony counting. The unit uses an electronic ring-shaped lamp for illumination. At a touch, the lamp provides direct or indirect illumination over the Petri plate surface, supporting steady, low-glare viewing during counting. The adjustable focusing arm allows the 1.5× standard lens to be raised or lowered to suit the operator’s working position. The lens can also be rotated 360° for ready access to Petri plates.

The background plate can be changed to white or black, helping improve contrast when counting colonies on different agar backgrounds or sample types. This product is suitable for microbiology laboratories, school science laboratories, university teaching laboratories, food testing education, environmental testing demonstrations and routine colony-counting training.
